After Market Honda Prelude Header

After Market Honda Prelude Header

The Honda Prelude stock header can decrease performance.  It can choke out the exhaust gases, creating pressure that will decrease performance.  After market options can help to rid that of happening.

  • Prelude header
  • chokes out gases on the prelude
  • provides unsuitable air flow for the prelude

By using the Preludes stock header you are putting restrictions on your cars engine.  One example is using a small straw to blow water through.  In that same example you use a bigger straw to blow water through and its much less effort.  The diameter on the Preludes stock header is typically 2" on the collector, and 1.25 inches on the 4 outlet pipes.

For the prelude that is very small.  Especially if you have a H22, F20B, or H23 engine.  This can greatly choke out your engine.  By putting a bigger header on this motor, you increase the amount of air flow for the prelude motor.  All stock engine parts basically put restrictions on your cars engine.  By using a different after market header you can increase your WHP by about 5 percent for your Prelude.  That's a good gain from just changing out the header.

There are different types of headers out there for the Prelude.  Many have different makes, and variations.  Some have 3 inch collectors, and others still have a 2 inch collector.  Some headers out there are just stock replacement for the OEM one.

The OEM header for the prelude has some other issues besides performance that are over looked.  For one its a very ugly color.  The stock header contains that ugly rusty color that looks like it contains tetanus at the touch.  There are other options for this out there, besides this.  Other more suitable headers are available that offer you a chrome look.  Much better especially if you go to car meets.

In the end the stock Honda Prelude Header restricts your air flow, limiting the potential of your Preludes engine.  A better after market header will increase your WHP around 5 percent.
